Mission, Values & Vision
Our Mission:
Moving People Toward Christ
Our Values:
We desire our core values to be the DNA of the church and our ministries. Therefore, we hope elders, staff, ministry leaders and the church family go beyond identifying these key phrases to embracing them as the way our church family glorifies God and pursues our mission: Moving people toward Christ.
Our primary core value is the Supremacy of God, because God and spreading His Fame is the purpose of all our ministry efforts. Since God is supreme, we desire Jesus Christ and His love as the highest influence in all we do. We make a priority of prayer since gaining God’s blessing is our greatest need. We center our Worship Service and our teaching upon God, learning all He does for us and stirring our minds and hearts to treasure Jesus Christ. If God is supreme, His Word is supreme – for all ministries and all of our lives. We hope all attendees and visitors quickly realize our greatest joy is God, our greatest passion is God, our greatest hope is God, and our number one aim is spreading the fame of His Name.
Intentional Discipleship captures the passionate and purposeful way we seek to honor God. Therefore, we hope everyone uses God’s gifts in their lives to encourage, sharpen, and mentor others toward maturity in Christ. God’s Word and our life experiences teach us that following Christ and increasing our faith, love and joy doesn’t ‘just happen;’ rather it takes hard work and purposeful intention. Hence, God’s Word urges us to pursue loving relationships for encouragement, growth, and mentoring – relationships that help non-believers come to Christ; new believers become mature; and mature believers remain faithful. Our aim is a church that passionately pursues the life of Christ and discipling relationships within families, among friends, at work or school, in small groups, in men’s and women’s ministries, and through intergenerational ministry between adults and teens and children.
God’s love and supreme purposes call us to make ‘Local and Global Impact.’ God calls us to reach out in love to widows, homeless, orphans, the poor and all whom God brings into our lives. We want to intentionally and actively look for ways to love non-believers (of all ages) by serving them and meeting their needs in the name of Jesus with no strings attached. We also want everyone to see God’s desire for all nations evident in our passion for all people. As good stewards we target specific un-reached people and pour most of our resources into reaching them with church-planting teams. We invite people to support these efforts through prayer, giving money, care packages to workers, and serving on mission trips. We also desire people to be involved with all kinds of ministries that serve international people: groups local to Portland and around the world. In short, we want our prayers, our services, and our ministries to stir hearts so that more people dedicate themselves to the spreading of God’s fame – through loving people in Portland and through working so that God is praised among all the people of the earth.
As followers of Christ we are being renewed in His image, letting His love become the DNA of our relationships with one another. This is Biblical Community. God calls us to ‘die to self’ – living solely for our own interests – and instead become like Christ toward others: meeting practical needs, bearing burdens, praying with and for one another, loving all people, and sacrificing to help the hurting. Small groups provide opportunities to love others in this manner, but so does being warm and hospitable on Sunday mornings, opening our homes to visitors, caring for the elderly, teaching or working in Children’s Ministries, serving on a Pastoral Care Team, discipling teens, mentoring men or women, or just seeing and meeting a need in someone’s life. We invite everyone to join our effort to become a church family that attracts people because of our active and genuine extension of Christ’s love.
Our Vision:
Trinity Fellowship is a part of God’s family. Through the power of His Son Jesus Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, He calls us to love, honor, and serve Him and one another. We live in Him, through Him, and for Him.
Trinity is an inclusive family. Our family includes married people, single people, widowed people and divorced people. We are a family of all ages. We value the wisdom of age and celebrate the energy of youth. All are respected. We see this by the different ways we worship. Some sit, others stand; some raise their hands, others clap; some love hymns and others enjoy contemporary songs of worship. All honor God.
Trinity is a nurturing family. We believe that we are our brother’s keeper. In our home, we encourage, exhort, guide, and guard one another. Hand in hand, side by side, in times of trouble or triumph, we know that we will never walk alone. As brothers and sisters in Christ, bonded in the love of God our Father, we desire to help one another to grow in the fullness of Christ.
Trinity’s home is open to the community. It is a place where we love and serve our neighbors. It is a place where people can come and share their burdens. It is a place where children can play and be safe. It is a place where strangers can visit and be welcomed.
As God’s family we are children of light. We shine His welcoming light in our neighborhood, in our city and in our world. We know that God’s light helps the hopeless, disarms the doubter, embraces the lonely, and guides the lost. As His family we live in Christ, through His power, and by His love.
