That’s the Beama seat judgment as distinguished from the Great White Throne. As an example of false teaching, we discussed Rob Bell’s ‘suggestion’ that Hell might not exist.

This sermon covered the time period just preceding the coming of Christ. What were the people expecting? I spoke of their expectation of a conquering King and how God ‘surprised’ them with the suffering servant. The practical challenge was how do we respond when God frustrates our expectations? There was a lot I didn’t cover, all that prophetic imagery… Just leave a comment if you want to follow up on anything.

I described it as ‘the biggest hammer’ God used to prepare His people for the coming of the Savior. The summary verse was Gal. 3:24 “the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ”.

In this sermon I focused on the initial promise in Genesis 3:15: “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” and on the fact that God often calls on His people to wait, as in the case of Abraham and Sarah.

The wisdom of patience? It’s about anger management and it’s no small thing. We looked at four specific aspects stemming from these verses:

Pro. 19:11 A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.
(Patience proceeds from peace within you.)

Pro. 15:18 A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel.
(Patience produces peace around you.)

Pro. 14:29 A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly.
(Patience will save you a lot of grief.)

Pro. 16:32 Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city.
(Patience is power.)
