Worship: Who

The Holy One, the Creator is the One we should worship. Stemming from Romans 1:25 we saw that if don’t follow the truth and worship God the creator, we’re stuck in the lie and will worship the creation in one way or another. We talked about picturing this in terms of One-ism and Two-ism, a framework which was new to me but that I like very much. What did you think?

Worship: What

What is worship? To worship is to attribute ultimate worth. I spent most of the sermon talking about ‘Cost Benefit Analysis’ – that scale we all use. And, yes, maybe too much time on the laser printer purchase (but it was definitely worth it!). Our object of ultimate worth is either God or it is not.

Thyatira: False Teaching

With Jesus describing Himself as “the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze” (Rev 2:18), we had to talk about Jesus as our Judge. That’s the Beama seat judgment as distinguished from the Great White Throne. As an example of false teaching, we discussed Rob Bell’s ‘suggestion’ that Hell might not exist.
